Pedicab Registration Plate Lottery 2024

Wednesday, May 1, 2024: The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) published a notice about issuing new pedicab registration plates in The City Record.

DCWP will only accept Lottery Application Forms between May 1, 2024 and 5 p.m. on May 28, 2024.

DCWP will assign each accepted Pedicab Registration Plate Lottery Application a “Priority Number” using a computer-generated random number selection program. DCWP will make offers to issue registration plates to applicants in order of Priority Number.

If you apply for the lottery, DCWP will email you a letter stating one of the following:

  • You are receiving an offer to be issued a pedicab registration plate and confirming next steps.
  • You were not randomly selected to receive an offer to be issued a pedicab registration plate.

If you receive an offer to be issued a pedicab registration plate, you must comply with all licensing and registration requirements within 45 days of the date you received the offer or the offer will become void.

  • Pedicab Timers
    • You must use a timer that complies with Handbook 44 and Special Publication 960-12 of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and be inspected and sealed by DCWP.
    • You cannot use a cell phone as a timer.
    • Call 311 or email scaleinspection@dcwp.nyc.gov to schedule a pedicab timer inspection. The fee is $10 per timer inspection.
