We provide FREE weekly curbside collection service to New York City residents. Every day, we collect 24 million pounds of trash, recyclables, and compostable material.
Set out trash, recyclables, and composting at the curb by midnight before your collection day.
NOTE: If you do not separate or set out your waste correctly on the correct days/times, you may be fined.
To ensure collection, ALL waste must be set out by midnight.
Bins must be stored so sidewalks and other public walkways are kept clean and unobstructed.
You can store your bins inside your building or outside in spaces like alleyways and courtyards. If indoor and outdoor space is available, you may store bins within three feet of your building. Bin enclosures located on sidewalks are subject to NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Multiunit residential buildings must follow NYC Building Codes for designated waste storage areas.
You can report that your trash, recycling, or compost was not picked up starting at 8:00 AM the day after your collection day.

Collections schedule may be delayed or suspended due to snowstorms or other severe weather. If collection was suspended due to a snow or weather event, missed collection complaints will not be accepted for that day.
