Applying for an Exam

Applications for an exam are only accepted during the filing period defined in the notice of examination. Once you have read the notice of examination and determined that you meet the qualification requirements, you must submit an application by using one of the methods below:

1. Online Application System (OASys) can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection and a recommended internet browser.

Follow the instructions on the Notice of Examination or review the Civil Service FAQs on OASys for assistance.

2. Computer-based Testing & Applications Centers (CTACs): The CTACs make available to the public year-round access to computer-administered exams for City jobs in the following locations:

Bronx CTAC
1932 Arthur Avenue, 2nd Floor

Brooklyn CTAC
210 Joralemon, 4th floor

Manhattan CTAC
2 Lafayette Street, 17th floor

Queens CTAC
118-35 Queens Boulevard, 5th floor

Staten Island CTAC
135 Canal Street, 3rd Floor

Our centers are open Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm, except for City holidays. Here are travel directions to the CTACs.
