Project Overviews

NYC DOT is developing a series of street improvement projects for the neighborhoods around Atlantic Avenue.

Lowry Triangle and Underhill Plaza Improvements

The Lowry Triangle and Underhill Plaza capital reconstruction will convert the plaza areas from the painted teal pedestrian space into a permanent plaza that is cohesive with Lowry Triangle, including concrete sidewalks and in-ground plantings and trees.

Atlantic Avenue Public Realm Improvements

NYC DOT will conduct a traffic study of the Atlantic Avenue corridor for potential public realm, transit, and bicycle improvements in preparation for initiating a capital project.

Dean and Bergen Streets Bike Boulevard Improvements

NYC DOT is advancing a community-driven, phased project to transform Dean Street and Bergen Street into safe, comfortable routes that prioritize local users including cyclists, pedestrians, school children, and bus riders. In April 2026, NYC DOT began collecting local feedback, surveying the community along the corridors via Street Ambassador deployments and an online feedback portal. Two workshops are planned for fall 2026 to hear directly from the community on their current experience with, and vision for the corridors.

Bedford Avenue Bicycle Improvements

NYC DOT is in the initial planning stage of a project to improve bicycle safety and access on the Bedford Avenue Corridor between Dean Street and Eastern Parkway.

Grant Gore Public Realm Improvements

NYC DOT is exploring adding public spaces on the perimeter of Grant Gore on Bedford Avenue between Dean Street and Bergen Street. NYC DOT will work with local stakeholders to identify opportunities and local access needs.
