Strategic Plan 2016: Safe • Green • Smart • Equitable

In 2016, NYC DOT released Strategic Plan 2016: Safe • Green • Smart • Equitable, followed by its Progress Report in 2017. The 2016 release was the agency’s response to a growing city with increasing strains on our transportation system. The plan reiterated our commitment to improving traffic safety and public health, expanding travel choices for all New Yorkers, supporting the City’s efforts to fight climate change, doubling cycling, and maintaining our streets and bridges in a state of good repair. The plan laid out, for the first time ever, a clear and detailed transportation policy for New York City—one that promised a new direction.
