CAU's Community Board Services Unit provides a variety of services directly to Community Board members and staff, and assists other agencies in providing training to Community Boards.

From April to June, we provide an orientation program to new Community Board members, which informs them of their Charter-mandated responsibilities in the budget, service delivery, land use planning and review, and Community Board structure and procedures.

This annual program is sponsored jointly with the Borough Presidents and is delivered for one to two evenings in each borough. CAU provides specialized material and workshops about committee effectiveness, meeting management, conflicts of interest and parliamentary procedure to individual Community Boards on request, and coordinates training such as budget workshops conducted by the Office of Management and Budget, and ULRP conducted by City Planning.
