Internship for Recruitment and Training


AGENCY DESCRIPTION
The Civilian Complaint Review (CCRB) - New York City’s independent police oversight agency - is empowered to receive, investigate, make findings and recommend action on complaints against New York City police officers that allege the use of excessive force, abuse of authority, discourtesy or offensive language. The board’s investigations are conducted in an impartial fashion by the board’s investigative staff, which is composed entirely of civilian employees. The CCRB receives and investigates approximately 7,500 complaints each year. Additional information concerning the CCRB is available at www.nyc.gov/ccrb

POSITION TITLE
Two part-time Fall Internship (2) positions, start date and schedule to be determined.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
The interns selected will assist the Director of Recruitment and Training with:
• Attending local university career fairs for recruitment initiatives.
• Researching local universities career centers for background information.
• Researching information on training related topics.
• Entering contact information into an Excel spreadsheet.
• Preparing materials for training workshops, and developing Power Point presentations.
• Carrying out post-training administrative work: evaluations, tracking of participants trained.
The interns will benefit by the exposure to training and development and recruitment procedures, the opportunity to utilize computer skills, enhancing research skills by investigating universities and other training-related topics and the one-on-one attention on career related issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for internships should be high school graduates, enrolled in a college or university, with excellent computer skills.
