Important Notice for People Who Live and Work In the Vicinity of Central Park West and 68th St.

DRILLING AND PLACING CONCRETE, PART OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF CITY WATER TUNNEL NO. 3 WILL BE TAKING PLACE AT THIS SITE

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection is constructing City Tunnel No. 3 to ensure New Yorkers continue to have safe and reliable water service for generations.  The west side portion of the Manhattan Tunnel travels north under Central Park West. The location for this work is on the east side of Central Park West at 68th St.

Two operations will be conducted at this site in order to place concrete in the tunnel. The first is to drill a hole down to the tunnel; the second will be to place concrete in the tunnel from this location.

The drilling at this site begins Monday of this week and is scheduled to last for three to four weeks. The work hours are generally 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, occasionally to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The concrete operation is scheduled to start Tuesday May 1, 2007 and will last for six weeks. The hours of operation for concrete placement are 7:00 to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
