septic
rehabilitation and replacement This program provides funding,
some $13.6 million from 1997 to 2002 and another $15 million committed

septic maintenance
In the 2002 Filtration Avoidance Determination, the City has included
a new Septic Maintenance Program for the Catskill/Delaware watershed.
This is important for water quality protection because routine septic
maintenance prevents groundwater pollution and surface effluent.
The cost of maintaining a septic – primarily routine pumping
– is minimal, particularly when compared to the effort and
expense of repairing or replacing a failed system. The City will
provide $1.5 million over 10 years for the program, which will be
managed by the Catskill Watershed Corporation. more
