FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO PRESIDE
AT 97 th ANNUAL FDNY MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY
Event honors members of FDNY that have passed away in the previous year
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will preside at the Fire Department's 97th annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Fireman’s Monument in Upper Manhattan . The event honors the memories of those firefighters and EMT’s who have passed away during the previous year. This year, the Department will honor the memories of Firefighters James O’Shea and Thomas Brick, both gave their lives in the line of duty in 2003. In addition, 14 members of the Department that passed away non line-of duty will also be honored. The Commissioner will be joined by hundreds of firefighters and family members at the event.
