BRONX FIREFIGHTERS TEAM UP WITH SMITHTOWN GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION TO HELP THE DISABLED
Firefighters from Engine Company 63 and Ladder Company 39 will be presenting a donation tomorrow to the Smithtown Guide Dog Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides guide dogs to wounded soldiers and handicapped individuals. These specially trained dogs help wounded troops walk again with artificial limbs and offer support as a loyal and reliable companion.
As a sign of support for soldiers serving overseas, firefighters from the 15th Division in the Bronx collected funds for the Smithtown Guide Dog Foundation of Smithtown, NY. At Engine Company 63 / Ladder Company 39 tomorrow, there will be a demonstration illustrating how these dogs help disabled individuals adapt to the everyday challenges that face them. The dogs will range from 18 weeks old to adult “working” dogs.
