Do you and your mom have some questions about how a Big Brother or Big Sister can help?
The Counseling Service Unit of the FDNY and Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC are looking for FDNY kids, ages 6-17, who lost a parent on September 11 or in other line of duty deaths who want an adult FDNY friend to pal around with a couple of times a month
“Big Brother” – Not a real brother, like a relative, but your very own FDNY guy (if you’re a boy) who will hang out with you and only you 8 hours a month, every month. He’ll do things like play ball, go to your games, take you to the movies, talk, and whatever else you like to do to have fun.
“Big Sister ” – Same thing, but for girls. Most big sisters are not firefighters, but they are all connected to FDNY. She’ll do whatever you like to do – go to the movies, take you shopping, go to museums, talk, have fun. She’s your very own “sister” for 8 hours a month, every month.
Contact Kim Ahearn in the CSU at (212) 570-1693 x 323 or ahearnk@fdny.nyc.gov for more information or to sign up.
