The CSU offers a range of services to meet the special
needs of the families of the deceased. Confidential
counseling as well as bereavement
groups for wives, parents, and siblings of fire
fighters lost on September 11th.
Recognizing the special needs of children who lost their fathers, CSU has partnered with bereavement specialists at Columbia University offering free confidential expert services.
Managing Me - A Program for Spouses of Deceased Members
This program is for spouses and significant others who lost a loved one in the line of duty. Workshops on home repair, interior design, landscaping, travel, and stress reduction have been offered in the past. Kids Connections
A special
new program for kids who have lost parents in the
line of duty
- Brings together children who lost their
FDNY dads in the line of duty for fun group events
in their communities.
- Promotes healing by allowing kids
to connect with others
who are going through something similar, learn new
coping skills, and have fun.
- Helps kids express themselves in writing through
the Kids Connections newsletter.
- Provides group activities
for moms during kids ’ events.
- Links families
with children ’s
resources and services.
