Firefighters from Engine 39/Ladder 16 gathered on their firehouse’s apparatus floor on Dec. 10 as Liberty Mutual honored two of their own - Firefighters Justin McNally and Ronald Corsale - with Firemark Awards for their incredible rescues.

“As firefighters, we work as a team every day,” said Capt. Thomas Hughes from Ladder 16. “And these guys are prepared, so when the time comes, they act.”

Firefighter McNally of Ladder 16 rescued a man caught in the fast-moving current of the East River on Aug. 17. Firefighter Corsale, also from Ladder 16, took part in a similar rescue on Oct. 12.

“Firefighters don’t get all the recognition they deserve,” said Jason Gerasia, a Sales Representative for Liberty Mutual. “As the son of a firefighter, I’m grateful to have the chance to thank you for all the work you do.”

Liberty Mutual has presented five Firemark Awards to firefighters this year, acknowledging their bravery and heroism.

“This is the least we can do,” said Rose Singh, Liberty Mutual’s Midtown Branch Manager. “Thank you for your contribution to this city.”
