A solemn plaque dedication ceremony was held to honor the memory of four members of the FDNY’s Bureau of Health Services on Jan. 20.
Family and friends gathered at FDNY Headquarters to remember RN Cheryl Lawrence (March 16, 2007), RN Shila Jackson (Aug. 11, 2008), EMT Wendell O’Brien (Dec. 22, 2008) and Paramedic Clyde Sealey (April 12, 2009)
Family and friends gathered around the plaque following the ceremony.
“Plaque dedication ceremonies are important to our members, because they represent a promise we make to our loved ones that we will never forget,” said Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.
Dr. Kerry Kelly, the FDNY’s Chief Medical Officer, said the four members “had many common qualities - they were caring and dealt with patients with extreme compassion. We were lucky to have had them in our lives.”
