The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting (MOFTB) welcomes other real estate concerns to join this program. Due to the popularity of this service, real estate companies interested in participating would need to offer a dedicated section on their website for film/television productions and sufficient technical and staffing resources to accommodate the demand. If you company would like to offer a similar specialized service to New York's entertainment community, please call the MOFTB at (212) 489-6710.
At any given moment, up to 70 film crews are working on public
property throughout the City's five boroughs. In addition to New
York's film studios that regularly host film and television projects,
private homeowners may also make their property available to crews
looking for a particular type of interior.
Following are some guidelines that will assist city residents with
the process of hosting film and television productions. Be aware
that the majority of calls that we receive at the NYC Mayor's Office
of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting with respect to private interior
shoots are from the neighbors of tenants who were not notified about
a production working in common areas of an apartment building, or
the extent of the equipment vehicle parking on adjacent streets. We
recommend working with your coop/condo boards, management offices and
neighbors at the earliest possible moment, before shooting commences
in your home.
The following guidelines do not constitute legal advice from the
City of New York, and you should not rely on them as legal advice.
The City of New York makes no promises, representations or warranties
concerning the content of these documents, and shall have no
liability, damages penalties, claims, costs, charges or expenses in
connection with any filming activity agreements that may be entered
into by individuals and production companies.
These suggested guidelines are posted for your reference and
convenience. You may want to consult an attorney to review any
arrangements you make with a production company to conduct a shoot
in your residence.
