September 1, 2005 - On September 15, 2005, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will appear on the television show All My Children. In the segment, taped on August 3, the Mayor appears on character Erica Kane’s (Susan Lucci) fictional talk show New Beginnings, and thanks her for shooting in New York City. Kane thanks the Mayor for the “Made in NY” incentive program and for making New York City a premiere location for entertainment production.
The “Made in NY” incentive program, which the Mayor signed into law in January, includes tax credits and free advertising on city-owned assets for qualified productions which shoot in New York City. The “Made in NY” discount card offers vendor discounts, and the “Made in NY” logo, a mark of distinction, runs in the end credits of productions which do at least 75 percent of their shooting in the City. The incentives have attracted more than $450 million in new business to the City since January.
The segment was taped during a barbeque in honor of the City’s entertainment industry, held at Gracie Mansion on August 3. Our local production industry employs 100,000 New Yorkers, contributes $5 billion to our economy on an annual basis, and supports 4,000 local businesses. All My Children has been shooting in New York City for more than 35 years, and proudly displays the “Made in NY” logo in its end credits.
The show has also taped segments at the City's 311 call center and with former mayors Koch, Giuliani and Dinkins which will air on September 14 and 15. All My Children airs on the ABC television network beginning at 1:00 pm.
