Animals
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) accepts donations of pet paraphernalia. For further information call (212) 876-7700, ext.4517.

Bide-a-Wee is a companion animal welfare society which welcomes donations of clean towels, sheets, old bedding, canned pet food (for cats and dogs), crates, animal toys and other pet paraphernalia.  For further information call (212) 532-6396 or email info@bideawee.org.

Arts Materials 
Materials For The Arts located in Long Island City, provides over 2,800 arts programs with the things they need to prosper and endure.  To find out more, visit MFTA’s Most Wanted Items site or call (718) 729-3001 ext. 207.

TDF Costume Collection is a rental company serving not-for-profit theatres, opera and dance companies, universities, colleges, schools and other performing arts organizations nationwide.  TDF accepts donations of clothing and costumes from the 1950's and before.  For further information call (212) 989-5855 or email costume@tdf.org.

Baby and Children’s Items
Baby Buggy accepts in-kind donations of new or gently used baby clothes, gear or products.  Donations are distributed to nonprofit community partners serving low-income and homeless families and distributing these goods to their babies and infants.  For information on how you can donate and what is accepted, visit the Baby Buggy website or call (212) 736-1777.

Children’s Hope Foundation is a volunteer driven organization that improves the quality of life for children, youth and their families affected by HIV and AIDS by meeting their medical and social needs.  Children’s Hope accepts donations of clothing and toys for children of all ages, from birth to teens.  For further information call (212) 233-5133, email info@childrenshope.org or visit their Wishlist.

The Family Justice Center (FJC) serves as an information clearinghouse for victims of domestic violence.  Located in Brooklyn, FJC provides a safe environment for victims to receive services, such as counseling, advocacy, legal and housing help. Non-perishable food items, baby products, maternity clothes and toiletries are always in need.  For more information on how to make a donation to FJC, please contact Sandra Lyman at 718-250-5083 or sandral@fjc.org.

Inwood House is a nationally recognized leader and innovator in teen pregnancy prevention, youth development and family support. Inwood House generally accepts baby clothes, furniture, maternity clothes and furnishings in excellent or brand new condition.  For further information, call 212-861-4400, extension 270 or visit their donations page

Bedding/Linens
NYC Rescue Mission is the oldest rescue mission in the nation providing spiritual hope, food, clothing, and shelter to the destitute.  The Mission accepts donations of bedding and linens, clothing, food, beds, toys, and furniture, etc.  Donations may be dropped off 24/hours a day at the Mission.  For further information call (212) 226-6214 or visit their donations page.

Bicycles
Recycle –A-Bicycle Program for NYC Youth is an independent organization dedicated to youth development, environmental education, recycling and bicycle transportation in New York City.  To donate bicycles, bike parts, tools and other related items call the Bike Hotline at (212) 569-2760.  For further information email rab@recycleabicycle.org.

Blood

Books
Prisoners' Reading Encouragement Project (PREP): PREP solicits new and gently used books, educational materials, audio and videotapes for donation to adult and juvenile prison libraries in New York State. PREP is a 501(c)(3) organization operated entirely by volunteers. For more information on donating materials or to volunteer, please visit www.prisonreader.org or phone/fax 212-349-6741.

Building Materials
Build it Green!NYC New York City’s only non-profit retail outlet for salvaged and surplus building materials; it is co-sponsored the Community Environmental Center (CEC). All proceeds go to fund environmental education at Solar One (www.solar1.org). Build it Green! accepts donations of building materials if they meet specific criteria. Habitat for Humanity, NYC builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of the future homeowners through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials.  To donate new or gently used tools, tape measures, screw drivers, hammers, saws, tile cutters etc. please call the Brooklyn office at (718) 246-5656 or email hfhnyc@habitatnyc.org.  Habitat also accepts large appliances and household goods (please read below for car donations).

Waste Busters, Inc. is an environmental education program that sparks student interest in waste reduction and recycling. To donate building products and appliances, please call (718) 351-1936.

Business Clothing
Bottomless Closet provides interview and work appropriate clothing to economically-disadvantaged New York City women.  They accept donations of clean, new or gently worn work appropriate items (suits, jackets, pants, skirts, blouses, and sweaters).  In addition, larger sizes (14 and up) are always in demand and particularly appreciated. Also much needed are accessories, including gently worn shoes, scarves, belts, bags, jewelry, new make-up and new pantyhose.  They are unable to accept undergarments, jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, or used make-up.   For more information, call 212-563-2499 or visit our website.

Career Gear is a nonprofit organization that fills the gap between job-training programs and employment by providing men with the interview clothing, motivation and follow-up support that helps them get jobs and keep jobs.  To donate business suits, ties, dress shirts business shoes and other accessories that men can wear on job interviews, call (212) 577-6190 or email info@careergear.org.

Dress for Success provides interview suits, confidence boosts and career development to more than 30,000 women in over 70 cities each year.  To donate gently-used business clothing, suits, shoes, etc. please call (212) 545-DSNY.

Suited for Work is a free clothing resource created by FEGS Health and Human Services System to serve unemployed men and women who would otherwise lack the professional attire that they need to attend interviews and return to work. Suited for Work welcomes donations of new suits, blazers, slacks, shirts, ties, skirts, socks, shoes, and toiletries. For more information or to make a donation, please call (212) 366-8228  

Cars, Trucks, Vans
American Diabetes Association  is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. Donate your old car, truck, boat or RV to the ADA and you may receive a tax deduction. As a charitable contribution, your vehicle donation could make a big difference. To start the no-hassle donation process, call their toll-free car donation program at 1-800-ADA-6570 (1-800-232-6570). If you would rather have someone call you, please fill out the online donation form.

Habitat for Humanity builds and rehabilitates simple, decent homes with the help of the future homeowners through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of materials.  To donate you car, call 1-877-CARS-4-US (227-7487), ext. 1339. Your car doesn't have to be running, there is no cost to you, and you don't even have to live in New York City. Cell Phones 
The Brooklyn Center for Urban Environment is dedicated to shaping positive and protective attitudes towards our urban environments, both built and natural.  The Center is now a member of the Funding Factory Cartridge Recycling Program, which allows exchange of certain used laser and inkjet print cartridges and old cell phones for free educational and computer equipment.  For further specifications about what types of cell phones and printer cartridges accepted and how to donate, visit their website or call Sharon Stephens at 718-788-8500, ext. 217.

Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence (OCDV) announced a citywide wireless phone recycling drive, in partnership with Verizon Wireless to benefit victims of domestic violence and help dispose of old wireless phones in an environmentally-safe way.  Cell phones and accessories from any carrier can be donated at any Verizon Wireless store.  For store locations and additional information, visit www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline.

Phones for Life Inc. collects and redistributes used and old cell phones to seniors for use in emergencies. To donate or request a phone, please visit their website or call 212-730-4699. Phones for life encourages corporations as well as government agencies to donate used or old cell phones.

Clothing 
Housing Works, Inc. is an advocacy program for homeless or at-risk-people with AIDS/HIV.  Housing Works accepts donations of items which you no longer need but are still in saleable condition, these include but are not limited to clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, art and furniture.  For further information on donating, please call the Donations Coordination Department at (212) 366-0820, ext. #2 or visit http://www.housingworks.org/thrift/donate.html.

Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS) is committed to ending homelessness by providing men and women with housing and support that can transform their lives. NCS accepts in-kind donations of dignity items (socks, underwear, soap, toothbrushes, etc.) to distribute to homeless clients at their drop-in center. Tickets to sports, movies and cultural events, and gift certificates for local shops are also accepted. Part of the Solutions (POTS) needs clothing donations for their homeless shelter, located at in the Fordham area of the Bronx. For further information, contact James Brannigan at (718) 220-4892 or email webster@potsbronx.org

St. John the Divine Cathedral - Community Cares provides an array of support services to those in need. These include a Crisis Center, emergency food and a soup kitchen, a shelter for men, professional and emergency clothing, emergency pantry, advocacy, training and intervention. Donations of beds, bedding and linens, clothes, equipment, and household goods are all welcome.  For further information call (212) 316-7581.

Food
AIDS Service Center AIDS Service Center (ASC): is a multi-service community organization that fulfills its mission of helping many, one by one through dynamic programming responsive to the needs of diverse communities. ASC's services include peer education, training and outreach; specialized women's services; child care support; HIV treatment education; supportive counseling; and much more. ASC provdes a food pantry for homeless people living with AIDS and are always in need of canned food donations to stock up their pantry. Other donations, such as personal toiletries, are also very much welcomed. Food Bank for NYC  was founded in 1983 to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, individuals, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the city's hungry.  For further information on donating canned food contact Michael Hecht, Director of Business Development , 212-566-7855, ext 224 or visit their  website.

Project Hospitality on Staten Island, is an outreach program/shelter whose mission is based on the commitment to care for and to offer a continuum of service to Staten Islanders who are low-income, homeless or infected with HIV.  To donate non-perishable canned and boxed food items, please contact Tom Schroeder, (718) 448-1544.  Project Hospitality also accepts donations of clothing and furniture.

Furniture and Household Equipment
Furnish-A-Future is New York City’s only free furniture bank.  Since 1992, FaF has helped more than 20,000 formerly homeless families turn bare rooms into comfortable, functional homes.  FaF has drop off sites in Brooklyn and Manhattan and in certain case may even be able to pick up directly at your door.  For further information on how to donate, call (718) 875-5353 or email furniture@pfth.org.

The Furniture Distribution Program, delivers free, used furniture and other household items to families newly relocated from the shelter system, Victims of Domestic Violence transferred via NYCHA's Emergency Transfer program, and families impacted by disasters. The program receives donations from hotels, motels, organizations and private citizens. For further information on NYCHA's Furniture Program or to donate furniture please call 212-306-3472.

J-CAP, Inc.  provides  residential and ambulatory treatment for chemical dependencies inQueens, New York since 1968. J-CAP, seeks bedroom furniture (dressers, bunk-beds,vanities, etc.) to replace dormitories at their 80-bed St. Albans facilities. J-CAP is also very much in need of 15,000 BTU A/C’s for their inpatient residence in St. Albans. Any workable condition is fine, so long as the are window-typeand run on 110V.   Depending on the amount of goods, transportation may be provided for all appropriate donations as well as letters of tax-exemptstatus for donors records. Medical Supplies
Lions Clubs offers people the opportunity to give something back to their communities.  For nearly 70 years, individual Lions clubs have collected used eyeglasses for distribution to the needy in developing nations.  People are encouraged to donate their used eyeglasses and sunglasses to their local Lions club, or to send them to the nearest regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/vision_eyeglass_jersey.shtml

Reading Materials 
Brooklyn Public Library welcomes gifts of materials in good condition, including books, paperbacks, recordings, and magazines.  It is always best to check with individual branches to ask if there are any local limitations on types of materials accepted and to make arrangements for donating. New York Public Library Branch Libraries welcome gifts of materials in good condition, including books, paperbacks, recordings, and magazines.  It is always best to check with individual branches to ask if there are any local limitations on types of materials accepted and to make arrangements for donating. Used Book Café SoHo accepts donations of books, records, and cds at their bookstore.  100% of the profits go to Housing Works, a non-profit organization that provides housing, advocacy, health care and many other services for New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS.  For further information on donating call (212) 334-3324 or visit http://www.housingworks.org/usedbookcafe/donate.html.

School Supplies

The Pencil Box (formerly the PENCIL Resource Bank) is an easy way for you to enhance the learning environment of students in New York City public schools.  Any company or individual with gently used furniture, equipment or other quality goods to donate can place a wide range of items directly with a deserving school through the PENCIL Box website. Sports Equipment
Sports Buddies comes out of a proud tradition, the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and focuses the mentoring relationship around a shared love of sports.  Sports Buddies accepts donations of sports equipments.  For further information on what they need and how to donate, please call (212) 563-BIGS. 

Ticket to Sports & Cultural Events
