Resources for Volunteer Managers

Volunteer managers often wear many hats as part of their jobs. For those who are new to the field of volunteer management and looking for resources to help shape their programs, MVC has compiled a list of online resources which inform the volunteer manager on varied topics such as volunteer training, recruiting, board development, and professional development.

From time to time, The Mayor's Volunteer Center also offers a three-hour session for new volunteer coordinators. The following topics are addressed: assessing agency needs; volunteer assignment descriptions/job descriptions; recruiting, interviewing, and screening volunteers; orientation and training volunteers; staff and volunteer relationships; volunteer and staff recognition; dealing with problem volunteers; evaluations, tracking and outcome measurements; and networking opportunities for volunteer managers. MVC also provides one-on-one consultations for agencies and or volunteer coordinators/managers/administrators. To learn more please contact MVC at (212)788-7550.
