Treasured Memories of 2005
As the year comes to an end, we take a look back at all the beautiful times we had. Like when JD from Le Tigre talked about her crushes, and when Casey of Fischerspooner was none too happy when the ice cream man gave him the wrong topping. Oh, and who can forget the kids who trashed Cat Power? Oh, all those beautiful memories, and plenty more. Now we can re-live them together. Plus, the best videos of 2005, including The National, Jason Forrest, M.I.A., The Go! Team, Out Hud, and others that we wont give away because we want it to be suspenseful.

Eugene Mirman & Langhorne Slim
I’m not one to pick favorites, but this may very well be the best episode of New York Noise yet! Take one part comedian Eugene Mirman, one part music man Langhorne Slim, add in some fried scallops, cake displays, and a giant Pikachu, and you have yourself some A++ television. Catch music videos by 33hz, Cut Copy, Langhorne Slim, The Magic Numbers, The Ramones and more. Plus! Clips from bands who performed at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon—the 25th marathon, no less. Clips include Au Revoir Simone and Mahogany, who both performed at the New York Noise CMJ Showcase at Cakeshop. On a beautiful end-of-summer day, Brooklyn’s delightful rock quartet Bishop Allen pack their guitars and ketchup and walk up the death trap that is the ladder that leads to the rooftop upon which a BBQ is to be held. At said BBQ, Bishop Allen do BBQ things, as well as play one of their new songs for us. Oneida
Its awesome when people are awesome, and the peoples of Oneida are indubitably awesome. Baby Jane and Kid Millions of the Brooklyn trio Oneida play most delightful hosts to New York Noise from their studio in Williamsburg. They discuss the NYC music scene and the effects being in a band has had on their lives, and give us a blinged out tour of their studio. If that’s not enough Oneida to get you excited, there’s also a rocking and wholly entrancing 8+ minute performance of Oneida, recorded by Joly of punkcast.com at the East River Music Project (ermp.org) concert this past summer. Plus new videos by Jason Forrest, Antony & The Johnsons, Shout Out Louds, Mother and the Addicts, The Peachwaves , Goblin Cock, and plenty more.

And the best part- Brian Turner shares some selections from his music video collection, including rare videos by Afrirampo, Lightning Bolt, The Fall, Serge Gainsbourg, Captain Beefheart, Devo, Deerhoof and more! Aziz Ansari & Rob Huebel as Pitchfork’s Editors
Keeping up with the coolest music isn’t easy—that’s why we enlisted Thadius P. Scornburner and Nigel P. Radcliffe, fake music editors-in-chief of the very best website in the world- pitchforkmedia.com - to help you out. They look a lot like the sexy NYC comedians Aziz Ansari & Rob Huebel, but don’t be fooled. Thadius & Nigel teach us the ins & outs of indierock and introduce us to some hot new bands, like an obscure group called “Cold Play.” Remember, you heard it here first! Plus videos by Pinback, My Morning Jacket, Devendra Banhart, Pavement, Chalets, Bloc Party, Burnside Project, LCD Soundsystem, The Go! Team, and more!

Ben Goldberg’s "Top 40 Me"
Things take a turn for the bizarre as Ben Goldberg of The Leaf Label hosts New York Noise with “Top 40 Me”- a spin-off of Morgan Spurlock’s documentary “Super-Size Me.” Allowing himself to be our guinea pig, Ben Goldberg replaces the indie in his diet with a heavy stream of Top 40.
