| Currently the Commanding
Officer of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Training, Assistant
Chief Thomas P. Sweeney also commanded the 30th and
45th Precincts, as well as Narcotics Borough Queens and the
Fleet Services Division. He has served as the Executive Officer of the
Office of the Chief of Personnel and the 71st Precinct.
Assistant Chief Sweeney holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Economics from Manhattan
College. He is also a
graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College at
Fort Leavenworth,
Kansas. In 1990-91, he
performed active duty overseas during the Gulf War and has served in the
United States Army Reserve since 1972. He retired at the rank of
Colonel.
Assistant Chief Sweeney has been married to his wife, Christine,
for 35 years and has two children: Lauren, a NYC teacher and Terrence, an
NYPD Lieutenant. His family includes his daughter-in-law, Deirdre, and
grandchildren: Marie Bella, Thomas Patrick and Maggie Rose.
