OEM Tip of the Week: A CERT Yourself
New York City Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) are community groups that undergo 11 weeks of training in basic emergency response, light search and rescue, first aid, and emergency preparedness. A new training cycle starts at the beginning of September. Call the CERT hotline at 718-422-8585 or e-mail CERT program managers to get involved.
There are teams forming and training available for the following communities:

The Bronx - Mott Haven, Port Morris, Melrose, Hunts Point, Longwood, Morrisania, Crotona Park, Claremont Village, Concourse Village, Woodstock, Edenwald, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Woodlawn, Fishbay, Eastchester, Olinville, Baychester, Norwood, University Heights, Jerome Park, Bedford Park, Fordham, Kingsbridge Heights

Brooklyn - East New York, Cypress Hills, Highland Park, New Lots, City Line, Starrett City, and other neighborhoods

Manhattan

Lincoln Road Response
After a fire at 57 Lincoln Rd. on Friday night, August 1, all residential apartments remain vacated. The resident service center at the Jackie Robinson School at 47 McKeever Place (P.S. 375) is now closed. Residents affected by the fire can call 311 (TTY: 212-504-4115) for additional information and services.

OEM's CERT Program Gains Eight New Teams
On Wednesday, July 23, the City welcomed eight new Community Emergency Response Teams. Deputy Mayor Skyler, Fire Commissioner Scopetta, and OEM Commissioner Bruno inducted more than 150 volunteers into the CERT program.

Sign Up for Notify NYC
Notify NYC is a service designed to deliver real-time emergency information to the public. The City is now in the pilot phase and will test different kinds of public messaging, including email, text messaging and telephone, to determine the best way to launch a citywide program. Anyone can sign up to receive emergency messages.
