To achieve New York City's long-term brownfield cleanup
goals, it is necessary to ensure that there is an adequate supply
of new environmental professionals to fill management and leadership roles in the future.
Many of the environmental leaders of tomorrow are currently students in
colleges throughout the city. The NYC Brownfield Scholarship Program is
administered by the NYC
Brownfield Partnership (Partnership) and is designed to promote the
training and development of future environmental professionals in New York
City.
Scholarships provide valuable assistance to students in their
efforts to pay for the costs of tuition for undergraduate
and graduate education. Member organizations in the Partnership support the
NYC Brownfield Scholarship Program by making voluntary contributions. The scholarship fund is administered by
Invest in CUNY (for college students in the CUNY system).
The NYC Brownfield Partnership is not an agency of the City. The
decisions of the Partnership are made by its board of directors and not by the
City.
CUNY students with a demonstrated
academic interest in brownfield cleanup and brownfield management can apply for
these scholarships. Scholarship recipients will be selected on a competitive
basis by the Partnership board of directors. Applications for this program are
now available and can be found in the Applications toolbar on the Partnership
website at www.brownfieldnyc.org.
