Long-Term Care (LTC) Program
Program Information>Covered Services


Contrary to common belief, most health insurance plans do not cover long-term care services.  The following is a list of services that are covered by the LTC Program.

Covered Services

  • Nursing home (skilled, intermediate and custodial care in a licensed nursing home or Alzheimer’s facility)
  • In-patient hospice care
  • Voluntary initial care advisory visit
  • Assisted living facility (or Alzheimer’s facility)
  • Home care services
    • Services from a licensed home care agency for: R.N., L.P.N., L.V.N., home health aide, physical, respiratory, occupational and speech therapy, homemaker services, social worker, social worker from an agency
    • Care from a nurse (R.N., L.P.N., L.V.N.) or a licensed therapist who is unaffiliated with a licensed agency
    • Adult day care
    • At-home hospice care
    • Ongoing advisory services
  • Respite services (21 days per calendar year): Services can be provided at home, in a nursing home, or in an assisted living facility
  • Informal Care (unlimited number of days)

Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
EAPs are staffed by professional counselors who can help employees and their eligible dependents handle problems in areas such as stress, alcoholism, drug abuse, mental health, and family difficulties.
