All owners of accessible medallions must hack-up
a Commission-approved accessible vehicle. For a list of
wheelchair accessible dealers,
please see the TLC website. As an accessible taxicab medallion owner, you are responsible for
installing the dispatching equipment that is mandated and paid for by TLC and
making sure that it is replaced if it is not working. TLC will pay for drivers to
be trained in the technology that will be used in the program.
You must
make sure that every accessible vehicle driver has a certificate of completion
from a Commission-approved training course in passenger assistance techniques
and sensitivity training. As an accessible medallion owner, you must pay for
this training. Please see the Accessible Vehicle Dispatch Program Rules for more detailed
information on the training requirements.
