Mayor Bloomberg and Chancellor Klein Announce 18 New School Buildings Opening This Fall, Most Schools to Open in a Single Year Under the City's Largest-Ever Capital Plan
Mayor Bloomberg and Schools Chancellor Klein today announced that 18 new school buildings with 11,471 classroom seats will open next week for the 2008-09 school year. The new construction represents the largest number of schools and classroom seats to open in a single year under the current five-year capital plan, which is the largest school construction effort in the City's history.

Mayor Bloomberg Opens Restored Access Path at Highbridge Park, One of Eight Regional Parks Redeveloped Under PLANYC
Mayor Bloomberg and Parks & Recreation Commissioner Benepe today opened the Highbidge Access Path in Highbridge Park in Manhattan. The $4.2 million Access Path project is part of the PlaNYC initiative to reopen the High Bridge and is also one of eight regional parks throughout the five boroughs that will be redeveloped as part of PlaNYC.

Mayor Bloomberg Announces Tentative Agreement With the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association
Mayor Bloomberg and Patrick J. Lynch, President of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA), announced that a tentative contract settlement has been reached with the PBA on a collective bargaining agreement covering the period from August 1, 2006 through July 31, 2010.

Mayor Bloomberg and CAU Commissioner Parvizi Unveil Community Mural at Newly-Refurbished Pedestrian Subway Tunnel in Washington Heights
Mayor Bloomberg and Community Affairs Unit Commissioner Parvizi unveiled a community mural at a newly refurbished pedestrian subway tunnel at 190th Street in Washington Heights, and cut the ribbon on a recently completed community mural located at the entrance of the 900-foot long tunnel. As part of the revitalization efforts, City agencies power-washed the tunnel and cleaned its drains while also working with a community group to create a 1,150 square foot mural at the entrance of the tunnel, which will be on view through July 2009.

Mayor Bloomberg Presents $59.1 Billion FY 2009 Executive Budget
Mayor Bloomberg today announced his Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Executive Budget and presented an updated four-year financial plan for New York City. The $59.1 billion budget maintains the City's firm financial footing in the near term by reining in expenditures across the city, with city-funded spending expected to only grow by 0.1 percent.

Mayor Bloomberg Releases 2005 Campaign Accountability Report
Mayor Bloomberg today released his third Campaign Accountability Report, showing that nearly a year and a half after Election Day 2005, 96% of the 100 campaign promises the Mayor made during the 2005 campaign have either been fully implemented or are currently being implemented.
