The mission of the New York City Medical Reserve Corp (NYC MRC) is to strengthen public health, improve emergency response and build community resilience. The organization consists of over 15,000 medical and non-medical volunteers who are deployed to respond to public health emergencies and participate in health-related community activities. NYC Medical Reserve Corps is a volunteer organization. NYC Medical Reserve Corps volunteers do not receive any type of compensation for their work performed during emergencies.
Volunteers represent a variety of health disciplines and are selected for assignments based on many criteria, including their discipline, language(s) spoken and their location. We are only recruiting for health care professionals through the NYC MRC at this time. If you are not a medical professional and would like to volunteer to help with our COVID-19 response, contact Help Now NYC.
Licensures and Professions
We are looking for anyone with a health care licensure or profession, including:
Volunteers must complete a two-step process to verify their licensure.
First, volunteers must register with ServNY, the New York State volunteer database. Once you are registered, ServNY will conduct an automatic verification of all your medical and professional licenses. You will receive confirmation of your registration through servNY, as well as information about upcoming opportunities.
Registration Tips:
After you registered and are verified in ServNY, you will receive an email with login instructions to the NYC MRC Volunteer Portal. Volunteer opportunities are listed in the portal, and you will sign up for specific shifts there. You will also receive specific details on your shifts through the portal.
If you need technical support using the Portal, email mrcsupport@health.nyc.gov.
Volunteers will receive training and personal protective equipment on-site at the start of every shift, as recommended by the CDC. NYC MRC volunteers have limited workers liability compensation coverage and are covered under the General Municipal Law, which provides protection for any “volunteer expressly authorized to participate in a city sponsored volunteer program."
