Since March 2009, more than 125,000 water customers have had new
Automated Meter Reading (AMR) devices installed, eliminating estimated
bills for virtually all of those customers. This new technology will
help reduce water consumption while providing daily consumption data
to DEP and its customers.

The NYC BigApps Competition is a contest for software developers
and members of the public to create Web or mobile applications
using City data. For the first time, the City is making available
more than 170 datasets to allow developers to build applications
that will serve residents, visitors, businesses, and the public
sector.

The Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications
(DOITT) recently announced issuance of a Request for Proposals
(RFP) seeking a qualified vendor to assist the City in applying
to obtain the ".nyc" top level domain (TLD) web address
and - if the City successfully acquires the TLD - to operate, manage,
maintain, and market .nyc.
