The NYC Board of Correction is monitoring temperatures in NYC jails during Summer 2024 (Memorial through Labor Day). During this period, Board staff will visit each facility eight times on a random schedule.

custody who are clinically designated heat sensitive; OR
2. at least two fans were provided and ice delivered between 12pm and
4pm in housing areas for people in custody who are
not clinically designated heat
sensitive when outdoor temperatures exceed 85°F (before 8/3/2024)
or 80°F (after 8/3/2024).
N indicates
that:
1. temperatures exceeded 80°F in housing areas for people in custody
who are clinically designated heat sensitive; OR
2. that at least two fans were not provided or ice was not delivered
between 12pm and 4pm in housing areas for people in custody who
are not clinically designated heat
