Wrap up your holiday season and say goodbye to your tree at Mulchfest. Join NYC Parks and the New York City Department of Sanitation in the NYC holiday tradition of recycling your Christmas tree!
Put on your boots and haul your tree to a Mulchfest location — we'll chip your tree into wood chips that we'll use to nourish trees and make NYC even greener. |
The kindergarten application is open! Apply by January 20, 2023. This year you can add G&T programs to it, too!
In New York City, children enter kindergarten in the fall of the calendar year they turn five, and are guaranteed a kindergarten seat at a public school. Once your child starts kindergarten, they can remain at the same school until its final elementary grade. Watch our video series to learn more about kindergarten admissions.

Record Number of Gifts Given to Vulnerable Youth: Mayor Adams announced that NYC Service helped facilitate the donation of more than 5,500 individualized gifts given to vulnerable youth in transitional housing, foster care, shelters, family justice centers, and Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers this holiday season through the Secret Snowflake in-kind donation initiative — serving the highest number of children in the program's decades-long history. The program also engaged the most private sector businesses to date, with 32 businesses engaging a record number of 3,500 employees as volunteers.
Mayor Adams ‘Gets Stuff Done’ During First Year in Office: Mayor Adams released a list of key wins achieved for New Yorkers over the last 12 months — demonstrating how his administration has worked to ‘Get Stuff Done’ since January. Mayor Adams’ first year has focused on delivering results for New Yorkers and tackling New York City’s most pressing challenges.
Sanitation Collection Trucks Donated to Assist Puerto Rico’s Recovery: Mayor Adams announced the donation of two standard-size New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) collection trucks to the municipal governments of Vieques and Yabucoa in Puerto Rico. The donations come as Puerto Rico continues recovery efforts from Hurricane Fiona, which devastated the island in September.

Buildings After Hours: Free in-person information session with DOB staff every Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM at your local borough office.
COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Illnesses: Resources including test kits, treatment, vaccines, and masks available to New Yorkers as New York City experiences high levels of COVID-19, flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and other respiratory viruses. Notify NYC: Enroll for free in New York City’s dedicated emergency public communications program.
311: Non-emergency municipal services available online, by texting 311-692, or by calling 3-1-1 from within the City or 212-NEW-YORK outside the five boroughs. TTY service is also available by dialing 212-504-4115.
