Dear fellow New Yorker
Mayor Adams joined the Irish community at this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Day parade festivities along Fifth Avenue. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is New York City’s oldest parade and began in 1762, fourteen years before the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence. The Mayor hosted a St. Patrick’s Day breakfast at Gracie Mansion in the morning and later attended Cardinal Dolan’s luncheon in the afternoon.

OPEN DATA WEEK
The New York City Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) will be celebrating the 8th annual NYC Open Data Week, March 16-24, featuring over 65 in-person and virtual events. The annual festival of community-driven events celebrating data about New York City, is co-organized by OTI’s Office of Data Analytics, public interest tech organization BetaNYC, and Data Through Design art collective.
This year’s slate of events provides attendees a unique opportunity to hear from representatives of city government, technology companies, advocacy groups, and universities about how data informs and enhances their work. Beginning Friday, New Yorkers have a chance to discover the world of open data from volunteer Open Data Ambassadors during daily classes that cover the history of data sharing in NYC, tutorials on how to use datasets, and an exploration of tools that make data easier to use. Open Data Ambassadors are trained and certified by OTI’s Open Data Team to teach their fellow New Yorkers how to use NYC Open Data.
All Open Data Week events are open to the public and, with the exception of the closing NYC School of Data Conference, free of charge. The full event schedule and registration details are available at open-data.nyc.
