Dear fellow New Yorker:
This past weekend, Mayor Adams joined the Forest Hills American Legion Post #1421 and visited the USS Intrepid in honor of Memorial Day. On Memorial Day, we all pause and reflect on the brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives to protect our country. It is a time for gratitude, and remembrance of the fallen members of our military services. The freedom and liberty we all enjoy today, has been bestowed upon us by those who took up the mantle to preserve American democracy.
Mayor Adams also marched this weekend in the annual Bangladesh Day Parade in Jackson Heights, Queens, to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Bangladesh. May also marks Jewish American Heritage Month, the annual recognition and celebration of American Jews’ achievements and contributions to this country. This week, Mayor Adams will host the Jewish Heritage Reception to acknowledge and thank Jewish New Yorkers for the many contributions they make to enrich our city. Finally, this weekend also marked the Jewish celebration of Lag Ba’Omer, where I was thrilled to attend and march in Lag Ba’Omer events alongside community members.
