Dear fellow New Yorker:
We proudly call Puerto Rico our sixth borough, and that joy was felt on the streets of our City this past weekend. Mayor Adams joined the Puerto Rican community and marched in the National Puerto Rican Day Parade along Fifth Avenue—the largest of its kind in the US. The Mayor also led a flag-raising ceremony for Puerto Rico at Bowling Green and hosted a heritage reception to proudly celebrate the contributions by Puerto Ricans to the City of New York.
This past week, the Mayor hosted the first ever Nepali-American roundtable at City Hall, where Nepali community leaders met with the Mayor and agency Commissioners.
Mayor Adams was also proud to raise the Juneteenth flag in Bowling Green to celebrate the resilience of the African American community. We commit to finishing the long march towards justice for Black New Yorkers and Americans. In other news, last week, the deadline to file for Section 8 housing ended. The application period marked the first time in 15 years that residents from low-income and moderate-income households could apply for a NYCHA voucher to go towards rent in the private market.
Finally, we want to wish our fellow Muslim New Yorkers a joyful and blessed Eid Al Adha, and to our fellow Jewish New Yorkers a Happy Shavuot!

All the best, Fred Kreizman Commissioner, Community Affairs Unit Office of the Mayor |
