Dear New Yorker,
I hope everyone enjoyed a safe and healthy Thanksgiving with plenty of time with friends, family, and loved ones!
Today is #GivingTuesday. It is an optimum time to donate to good causes but beware of charity scams!
Tips: - Research the charity.
- Do not click on unknown links.
-
Review payments to make sure you weren’t charged more than you agreed to give or unknowingly signed up for a recurring donation.
Finally, Winter is here. Code Blue is one of our best tools to help vulnerable New Yorkers. Code Blue makes it easier to help people experiencing homelessness into shelters while also encouraging others to call 311 if they see someone in need.
All the best, Fred Kreizman

There are several ways you can get involved in the campaign: - Mobilize your staff and community to wear orange and post on social media using the hashtags: #NYCAgainstGBV and #OrangeTheWorld.
-
Host an in-person or virtual activity or event about GBV.
- Submit events via the campaign website here!
-
Use and share widely with your networks the campaign website, calendar, toolkit, and flyer.
- Attend and amplify community and agency partners’ public events.
- Amplify the City’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence social media campaign.
Awareness, engagement, and participation are key tools to prevent GBV and support survivors. We hope you can join us in this effort to create a safer city for all New Yorkers.

Mayor Adams Unveils Sweeping Plan for Holiday Season Car-Free Open Streets in Midtown Manhattan, Highlights Campaigns to Shop Local: With the 2022 holiday season approaching, New York City Mayor Eric Adams today unveiled a sweeping plan to cement Midtown Manhattan as the premiere international holiday destination by opening 11 city blocks to pedestrians in December — the city’s largest-ever holiday season-specific Open Street. As part of the plan, the Adams administration is launching two marketing campaigns encouraging New Yorkers and visitors to shop at local small businesses in Midtown and across the city. Through a partnership between the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT), New York City Police Department (NYPD), and the Fifth Avenue Association, the city will — for the first time in half a century — transform Fifth Avenue, from 48th Street to 57th Street, into an Open Street on three Sundays in December, while bringing back the overwhelmingly popular pedestrianized area around Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall throughout the holiday season.
