DYCD Heroe's Project Comic
The DYCD Hero's Project is a literacy-focused comic book initiative that challenges youth across NYC to develop stories about heroes real or imagined in their communities. This year workshops were held virtually for young people in grades 4 - 12 gave them the tools and skills they needed to make their stories jump off the pages of their comic books and come to life. The 2021 comic book promoted social awareness and youth voice. In conjunction with Broadway and Beyond, youth explored social justice, inequality, and injustice, to create literature and illustrations that reflect their voice and ideas.
