Advance & Earn is a new training and employment program from DYCD’s Workforce Connect for youth between the ages of 16-24. The model will offer a continuum of services including literacy and math instruction, HSE test preparation, work readiness training, college and career exploration, paid work experience, advanced occupational training and industry credential attainment supported by case management and wrap-around services. Applications are now available for both the Family Development Credential (FDC) Program for frontline staff and the Family Development Credential Program for Leaders targeting supervisors, managers and directors. These intensive professional development training opportunities emphasize empowerment and family support as a way of delivering human services, education and health to individuals, youth and families. Sponsored by the NYC Citywide Administrative Services, the Urban Fellows Program is a highly selective, nine-month fellowship which combines work in Mayoral offices and City agencies with volunteer service opportunities and a seminar series that explores current urban issues impacting public policy. The program is designed to introduce a diverse group of America’s finest college students and graduates to local government and public service. This is the reality for many New Yorkers right now. For the last 31 years, New York Cares has channeled the generosity of our City into their annual Coat Drive. Last year they distributed their two millionth coat, and this year their goal is to collect 100,000 new or gently used coats for social service agencies, public schools, transitional housing shelters, and more.
