Advance & Earn
Advance & Earn is a training and employment program from DYCD’s Workforce Connect for youth between the ages of 16 and 24. The model will offer a continuum of services including literacy and math instruction, HSE test preparation, work readiness training, college, and career exploration, paid work experience, advanced occupational training, and industry credential attainment supported by case management and wrap-around services. Young Sharks
Always wanted to start your own business? Dream of inventing the next big product, launching a YouTube channel, or building a popular app? DYCD, in partnership with Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council (HHSYC) and Daymond John, "The People's Shark" from the world-renowned show, Shark Tank, presents the 6th Annual Young Sharks Competition. Saturday Night Lights
Light, camera, ACTION! NYC youth ages 11 - 18, it is time for you to show off your skills on the court, field, or in the classroom with Saturday Nights Lights. Brought to you by a partnership between NYPD and the Department of Youth and Community Development, Saturday Nights Lights NYC is an initiative where 100 gyms across the city for free, high-quality sports programs for kids on Saturday nights. Astoria Youth Dance Company wins
‘Battle for the Belt’
The Secret Society Dance Company (SSDC) from Astoria traveled to Philadelphia to compete in the “Battle for the Bell” competition and captured first place in two categories.
