The annual NYC Youth Count has started on Wednesday, January 27 and will continue through Friday, January 29.  During that time, Runaway and Homeless Youth provider staff and volunteers will ask young people between the ages of 14 and 24 to participate in a short anonymous survey to provide information on the real experiences of youth and young adults. The NYC Youth Count will be conducted during regular business hours of participating youth-serving programs, including emergency shelters, drop-in centers, outreach teams, and other programs. There are virtual tabling sessions available as well.

Spread the word  by encouraging young people to participate and share resources for young people!

Applications are now available for both the Family Development Credential (FDC) Program for front-line staff and the Family Development Credential Program for Leaders targeting supervisors, managers and directors. These intensive professional development training opportunities emphasize empowerment and family support as a way of delivering human services, education, and health to individuals, youth and families.

Ladders for Leaders is a nationally recognized program that offers high school and college students the opportunity to participate in paid professional summer internships with leading corporations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies in New York City. Ladders for Leaders gives students a unique opportunity to explore their interests and discover new ones through a six-week paid summer internship.

DYCD’s Flash survey gives NYC youth the opportunity to let their voice be heard. We’ve partnered with Amplify App to let young people tell us what support they need and how they access services. When you fill out a survey, you get entered for a chance to win a Dell laptop.

Step It Up NYC will showcase the power and influence of youth voice. Through social campaigns and dance performances of all genres, young people (aged 10–21) will compete to raise awareness and express their opinions on various social issues. Audition rounds will kick off in February, and the ten highest scoring teams will compete during the week of Juneteenth 2021 for a chance to win a grand prize totaling $2,500!

JustUs offers free counseling, career/job readiness, money management, and group support to girls and LGBTQ+ youth between the ages of 12 and 18 who are either involved or at high-risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system in Brooklyn. This spring break, STEM is taking over the City! With STEM Matters NYC programs, students in grades 9 to 12 can meet and work with field experts and have real-world learning experiences. Apply now to intern at the NYC Department of Education’s Genovesi Environmental Study Center (GESC) in Brooklyn. Interns will urban farm, get their hands dirty in the gardens or care for more than 200 animals that call GESC home.
