Independence Day may be over, but during the rest of July you can get FREE immigration help in citizenship applications and other immigration issues. GreenThumb Youth Leadership Council

The GreenThumb Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is an opportunity for high school youth 14–21 years old and college students to volunteer at a community garden in New York City. Participants will learn firsthand from community gardeners how to maintain and grow a healthy garden. Youth will also work alongside gardeners on various garden projects that will include opportunities to gain skills ranging from carpentry to composting to community organizing and event coordination and management as well as volunteer management, leadership and professional skills. Any student interested in agriculture, composting, botany, construction, stewardship or community engagement should apply!

Join the Bronx Library Center for their 2nd Annual BLC College & Resources Fair! Come spend the day talking with representatives from college and opportunity programs. You will also have the opportunity to take part in workshops centered on college and career planning.


2018 NYC Summer Internship Program


City government internships allow students to make important contributions to the City while participating in a challenging and rewarding work experience. To participate in the summer internship opportunities at City agencies, graduate students must currently be enrolled or accepted into a graduate program and undergraduate students must currently be enrolled or accepted into a college or university.

Health Profession Opportunity
The Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG), administered by the Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, was created to provide education and training to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients and other low-income individuals for occupations in the healthcare field that pay well and are expected to either experience labor shortages or be in high demand. Security Officer Training
Students prepare for careers as State Licensed Security Guards. Students complete the 8–hour pre-assignment training and 16–hour job training. Preparation for the NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness as a Fire Guard is provided. Prerequisites include online learning modules in preparation for certification. HSE or HS Diploma required. Free Summer Camp

Homes for the Homeless Sleepaway Camps offer a safe and fun environment for campers from NYC from 7–13 years old. Two-week sessions. Campers will have the chance to hike and explore the wooded trails, swim and boat in a mountain lake, sing and tell stories around a campfire. To qualify, kids must have an active public assistance case. Priority is given to children now in a shelter or who have lived in a shelter in the last year. Brooklyn Museum

Free NYC museum admission for military families from Memorial Day to Labor Day is being offered at more than 24 New York City museums and gardens. The program, sponsored by Blue Star, allows all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families access to 2,000 art exhibits, science centers, and amazing museums all over the nation.


Riverflicks FREE Movies

Free outdoor movies under the stars in Hudson River Park on Manhattan’s west side waterfront! Movies start at dusk, around 8:30 pm. Free popcorn! Beverages and snacks available for purchase.

Free Kayaking

The Downtown Boathouse offers free sit-on-top kayaks for public use in protected Hudson River embayments at each of their locations throughout our season (May–October). They give brief instruction and provide all necessary safety equipment as well as changing rooms, lockers and locks, bike locks, sun block, and first aid equipment.

NY JETS Training Camp

See the Green and White gear up for the 2018 season at Atlantic Health Jets Training Center and Highpoint Solutions Stadium at Rutgers University this summer. Get your family and friends together and come experience the New York Jets up close and personal. All events are FREE to the public, but require a ticket for admission.
