SYEP Deadline Extended!
There’s still time to put in an application for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)! SYEP is a six-week paid employment opportunity that gives NYC residents between the ages of 14-24 an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in an entry-level position. Applicants will be selected via a lottery process. Submit your SYEP application before the March 30th deadline.
Next Cycle of YAIP Begins in March
The next cycle of the Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP) will begin later this month. The Young Adult Internship Program is a 14-week paid internship for NYC residents who are 16-24 years old, not working and not in school. YAIP programs are located in community-based organizations in all five boroughs of New York City and offer a range of placements in many industries, including construction, hospitality, healthcare, and retail. Y-MVP Fitness Program
The Y-MVP Teen Fitness Challenge class is a FREE program designed to engage teens in greater amounts of moderate to vigorous physical activity. Over the course of eight-week sessions, fitness coaches lead weekly small group training classes at NYC YMCAs. Teens are guided through a progression of cardio, strength, cross-training and flexibility missions and ultimately learn how to set and achieve personal goals. The program blends fun fitness activities with a dynamic mobile app that motivates, recognizes and rewards young people’s MVP levels while helping them to create life-long healthy habits. Free Technology Training and Career Development
NPower’s Tech Fundamentals program prepares students to begin careers in the field of information technology by offering free tech training, mentoring from business leaders, paid internships, career development workshops at leading corporations and nonprofits, industry-recognized certifications, job placement services and access to a robust alumni network. In as little as 22 weeks, NPower students develop the tech skills they need to realize a career in technology. Strong Path To Graduation
The CUNY Start-ASAP Foster Care Initiative aims to connect students to CUNY Start and/or ASAP to improve persistence and increase their chances of timely graduation at CUNY. The Foster Care Initiative ensures a coordinated pathway to CUNY degree completion and is made possible thanks to the generous support from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Assistance in Catholic School Tuition
The Cardinal’s Scholarship Program provides aid to families who wish to enroll their children in an inner-city Catholic school affording parents a viable choice in their children’s education. Scholarship amounts vary according to annual income, household size, and the number of children enrolled in Catholic school. NYU Aspire Program
NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) Aspire is a scholarship program for rising high school juniors and seniors from underrepresented communities who will be first-generation college students. Aspire is a two-year college prep and mentoring program that features a variety of classes and workshops, which will prepare selected applicants for the college admissions process and experience. The program begins with a one-week college immersion intensive in the summer and continues with support throughout your junior and senior year in high school. Summer Internship Program at the Brooklyn Navy Yard
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) Summer Internship Program connects college-attending or college-bound young adults with Navy Yard-based businesses for eight-week summer internships. The Summer Internship Program gives students an opportunity to gain real work experience, exposure to the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the industrial sector, and the opportunity to earn a salary during the summer that may supplement their college costs. NYC Cares Summer 2018 Internship
The Corporate Relations Intern will work closely with many of the city’s top corporations to complete service projects in the field and will develop strong administrative skills in the office. The Corporate Relations team creates and manages corporate service programs for approximately 150 corporate sponsors throughout the year. The Corporate Relations Intern will report to a Corporate Service Manager and support the department by staffing corporate service projects throughout the city and by executing critical administrative tasks. Generation NYC is a new resource for teens and young adults brought to you by NYC Children’s Cabinet and NYC Opportunity. It is a website for youth (ages 13-24) to get informed, get inspired, and get exploring in NYC. Teens and young adults can visit Topics to learn useful information, Inspirations to hear stories of other youth in NYC, and Trips to find free day trips in and around the City.
