Founded in 1895, The New York Public Library is the nation’s largest public library system, with 92 locations in 88 NYC neighborhoods throughout the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. They have been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas, and education for all New Yorkers for more than 100 years. ACS Launches New Web Portal
“ACS ConnectMe”
The NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) recently launched a new web portal, “ACS ConnectME,” which is for youth in foster care, foster parents, adoptive parents, families and child welfare professionals. The one-stop-shop now provides users with greater access to information about services and resources across ACS, other government agencies and more. Users can search for the services that are right for them (education, housing, employment, health, legal services, public assistance, parenting support, etc.) in the location in which they reside. Once a user types in the services into the search bar, a drop-down menu will appear so that the user can narrow down the search by age and/or language. A list of available services will appear for the user to click and learn more. The portal also includes a calendar of training, courses and workshops available to foster parents and child welfare professionals offered by the ACS Workforce Institute, as well as information about upcoming events. Women's Equality Day

Work on 2020 Census
The U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 Census count. They are hiring for a variety of temporary jobs, including census takers, recruiting assistants, office staff, and supervisory staff. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, have a valid Social Security number, and be a U.S. citizen. To earn extra income while helping your community, visit the Census Employment website. Pay rate in NYC is between $20 to $25 per hour.
Police Athletic League is hiring!
Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and afterschool recreational and educational activities. They are looking for a part-time Activity Specialist who will be responsible for engaging youth, between the ages of 13 and 19, in a variety of pro-social activities. Jewish Foundation for
the Education of Women
The Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women (JFEW) was created in 1880 when Minnie Dessau Louis opened a school for Jewish immigrants on New York City’s Lower East Side. JFEW has undergraduate scholarship programs at colleges and universities in New York State, which are administered directly by those institutions and focus on college completion. These programs support over 400 women yearly. For a list of programs, see College Program and Heritage Program. If JFEW has a program at your school, contact the financial aid office for application information. Preference is given to STEM, healthcare, teaching, and public service majors. Jewish and non-Jewish women can submit a three-page proposal until September 27. If JFEW does not have a program with your school, they put together a listing of some scholarship opportunities outside of JFEW.

Are you a member of the Women in Aviation International (WAI)? The application period for the Women in Aviation International STEM Scholarship is now open! Members of the WAI have until November 12, 2019. Women in Aviation International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests. In addition to this scholarship, WAI also provides year-round resources to assist women in aviation and to encourage young women to consider aviation as a career. NYC Parks - Flag Football
The NYC Parks Instructional Series and Flag Football League take place in parks across all five boroughs. The Instructional Series includes fundamental instructional drills and strategies for boys and girls ages 5-17. The NYC Parks Flag Football League is open for girls and boys ages 9 to 17 for league play. All equipment will be provided: jerseys, flags, and footballs. Registration is first-come, first-served and is open until September 7.

Bronx Zoo’s Dinosaur Safari
You have until November 3rd to plan your visit to the biggest, most realistic Dinosaur Safari ride in America. Travel back in time on their guided tour to learn about dinos of the past and animals of the present. The staff at the Bronx Zoo will help you spot the connections between animals at the zoo and ancient dinosaurs. Spend some time at the dig site uncovering fossils, meeting a walking, roaring dino, and taking photos. The perfect prehistoric day.
High Line Tours
The High Line is more than a park. It’s a public space where you can view art, walk through gardens, experience a performance, savor delicious food, or just connect with friends and neighbors—while enjoying a unique perspective of the city. And with the High Line Tour: From Freight to Flowers, you will be able to hear the story behind New York City’s park in the sky. These tours take place twice a week on Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Saturdays at 10am, until October. In September and October, the Tuesday evening tour begins at 5:30pm.
