THE "MADE IN NY" ANIMATION PROJECT
|
This summer, the "Made in NY" Animation Project offers NYC youth in all five boroughs the free opportunity to engage in storytelling, gain technical skills in 3D computer animation, and qualify for paid internships in the field. The program is an initiative of the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment in partnership with NYC Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeONSM) Community Centers, and The Animation Project (TAP) to address projected workforce needs within New York City's growing media industries.
In each monthly series during Summer 2021, the virtual program groups will explore one aspect of the animation pipeline including connecting NYC 14-24 year-olds to professional development and industry professional guest speakers. Upon completion of the program, youth can continue with the "Made in NY" Animation Project this fall. The 90-minute sessions will run on Wednesdays starting July 14, 3-4:30pm. Registration is open now! For more information about the "Made in NY" Animation Project, please visit the "Made in NY" Animation Project webpage.

SOUND THINKING NYC
|
MOME is a proud sponsor of Sound Thinking NYC. In partnership with CUNY Creative Arts Team and NY Is Music, Sound Thinking NYC (STNYC) is a free program designed to empower young professionals as they explore careers in the music industry. During its first virtual year in 2020-21, STNYC has expanded programming by offering panels with globally-renowned music industry professionals, including Heavy Duty Projects, Genius, UMPG, WARP Records, and more. This past year, STNYC also launched its first mentoring program, which individually pairs eighteen STNYC participants with a music industry professional. Additionally, STNYC recently introduced its after-school program, where student participants were given the opportunity to attend a virtual and in-person event presented by the Anti-Social Producers Club and sponsored by MOME.
During the summer, Sound Thinking NYC offers two 3-week Summer Intensive virtual programs for high school students where they learn leadership skills, get hands-on experience in music production, and partake in field trips to venues and sound production studios. Now in its 4th year, Sound Thinking NYC continues to create opportunities for students and address gender equity in the music industry. For more information about Sound Thinking NYC and details about the STNYC Summer Intensive Virtual Program application, please visit the Sound Thinking NYC website.
