The 2015 Primetime Emmy nominations have been announced, and "Made in NY" series have received 110 nominations. "The 'Made in NY' series nominated for the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards are an important part of the fabric of our City, and I want to congratulate the talented men and women whose work on screen and behind the cameras have been recognized," said Mayor de Blasio.

Media and Entertainment Commissioner Cynthia L?pez recently visited the set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which has been filming on location in New York City for the past few months and spending $63 million in the City during its production.

Silvercup Studios has announced its plan to expand with a new studio complex at 295 Locust Avenue in the Port Morris section of the Bronx.

Congratulations to the graduates of the third class of Strategic Steps for Growth: Media and Entertainment, an intensive eight-month management training program for entrepreneurs in media and entertainment who are ready to expand their businesses.

This year's Pride March included a group gathered under the "Made in NY" banner. More than 50 "Made in NY" graduates of the PA Training Program, their loved ones, and supporters joined in the march to celebrate the LGBT community.

The Made in NY Media Center by IFP, a multi-disciplinary creative space located in Dumbo, Brooklyn, offers a variety of workshops, screenings, and engaging conversations about the entertainment and digital industry throughout the summer.

Lights! Camera! Access! 2.0 - a think tank dedicated to achieving disability-inclusive diversity in media, entertainment, and digital platforms - was convened in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Recently Commissioner L?pez joined City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and other officials at the opening of the IDNYC enrollment center in East Harlem located at 162 1/2 East 104th Street.

A number of local businesses have joined the "Made in NY" Discount Card Program, offering a discount on their goods and services to productions filming in the five boroughs. Among the latest vendors to participate in the program are: Look At The Wall Productions; Videology Bar & Cinema; Holiday Inn Manhattan Financial District; Pastoral NYC, LLC; and Pond5.

Celebrating the work of Bronx Community College students in the Media & Digital Film Club as well as the Media & Digital Film Production Program, the 22nd Annual Film and Video Festival featured original short films that the students had been working on throughout the semester.

Film festivals and outdoor screenings will showcase films with an international perspective.

Reel New Yorkers
|
This month we look at a quartet of "Made in NY" graduates who are making great strides in their careers in the entertainment industry. Following completion of their training with the "Made in NY" Production Assistant Training Program, which was developed in partnership between the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, these New Yorkers have been working behind the scenes on films and TV shows in New York City and are now making their working their way up the career ladder.
