In September, a new crop of students took a trip to Steiner Studios at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a tour, and later met rapper and actor 50 Cent. Not an everyday occurrence for the students, but just a typical day in the career of Venus Anderson in her role as Program Director for the Made in NY (MINY) Production Assistant (PA) Training Program. Teatro Sea Artistic Director Dr. Manuel A Morán Discuss Theatre, New Show "The Glory: A Latin Cabaret"

website Teatro SEA (Society of the Educational Arts, Inc.) was established on New York's Lower East Side in 1985 by Artistic Director Dr. Manuel A. Morán. The theatre is currently celebrating its milestone 30th Anniversary Season, and MOME spoke to Dr. Morán to hear more about their current production of LA GLORIA, A LATIN CABARET, celebrating its world premiere opening during Teatro Fest NY 2015, and closing December 6th. websiteActing Commissioner Luis Castro delivered remarks at the opening night of the 6th Annual DOCNYC Festival, America's largest documentary film festival. The film Miss Sharon Jones opened the festival. Acting Commissioner Castro also helped kick off the final day of DOCNYC by moderating a panel, How Did I Get Here?, about breaking into filmmaking. Filmmakers Farihah Zaman (Remote Area Medical), Hao Wu (The Road to Fame), Yoruba Richen (The New Black) and expert Taj Paxton (Logo/Viacom) shared lessons learned and advice on how to sustain their creative careers.

Carla Hoke-Miller, Director of Theatre and Strategic Partnerships at MOME, delivered a Mayoral proclamation to production of Jersey Boys, which celebrated their 10 year anniversary on Broadway on October 15th.

Virtual Reality: What Works, What Doesn't, and How to Navigate a New Frontier
Join the Made in NY Media Center on December 8 for a panel discussion on what it takes to tell a story in VR, from concept, to production, to distribution. Mike Woods (Framestore's Digital Department), Marcelle Hopkins (director of the Immersive Documentary Recipe for Famine), Ray Tintory (Court 13 filmmaking collective), Heidi Boisvert (future Perfect lab), Jaime Pallot (Emblematic Group) will bring together creative forces across different facets of VR storytelling, from CG animation to live action documentary, from branded content to originals. The panel will be moderated by Jess Engel, producer at Virtualize.
