NYC LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE FOR FILM AND TV INDUSTRY

On October 18, Mayor de Blasio and Commissioner Menin announced "NYC Film Green," a first-of-its-kind initiative to encourage film and television productions to engage in sustainable practices. The voluntary program will track eco-friendly on-set practices including waste reduction, energy conservation, and staff education. NYC Film Green is the first green production designation program in the country administered by a government entity, making NYC the nationwide leader in setting environmental standards for the film and TV industry.

MOME Announces Programs Targeting Underrepresentation of Women in the Film and TV Industry

On September 29, MOME Commissioner Julie Menin announced the launch of several major initiatives to support women in film and television. These programs include a $5 million fund that will provide grants to support film and theatre projects by, for, and about women; pitch workshops for women filmmakers and a film financing conference for women filmmakers; and a screenwriting contest for NYC screenwriters, among others.

"Made in NY" Talks Fall Lineup Announced

MOME and the Center for Communication announced this fall’s lineup of free programming for New Yorkers interested in professions in media, tech, filmmaking, and more. In celebration of MOME’s 50th anniversary year, the “Made in NY Talks” lineup features more leading executives and creators across the media and entertainment industries, who will provide insight into the inner workings of the business and invaluable perspective on the rapidly evolving landscape.

"Made in NY" Fellowships AVailable for Media and Tech Entrepreneurs

MOME and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP announced the return of Made in NY Fellowships, a year-long program to provide expanded resources and opportunities for New Yorkers to bring their media projects to the next level. Building on the strength of this initiative that launched last year, the program aims to foster a diverse media industry, recognizing that different experiences, perspectives, and cultures are critical to advancements in innovation and creativity. Ten fellowships will be made available to individuals and teams working on projects in documentary filmmaking, narrative filmmaking, gaming, post-production, animation, virtual reality, and media/tech.

NYC Life Kicks Off Exciting Fall Season

NYC Life, MOME’s television station, is launching its fall season next week, including new seasons of favorites like Neighborhood Slice, along with new women-focused shows Her Big Idea and The Vanguard: Women in Media.

Paleyfest: Made in NY

From October 6 through 19, PaleyFest: Made in NY brought fans together with the stars and creators of their favorite TV shows for panel discussions with audience Q&A. This year, in honor of MOME’s 50th anniversary, the festival featured exclusively Made in NY shows, including longtime favorites Madam Secretary and Gotham, along with newer hits like Quantico and Younger.

Congratulations to Cycle 46 of the "Made in NY" PA Training Program

On October 7, 24 New Yorkers graduated from the Made in NY PA Training Program, taking the next step towards promising careers in NYC’s booming TV and film industry. To date, the program has prepared 658 previously unemployed and low-income New Yorkers for entry level jobs as Production Assistants.
