Good evening New Yorkers, Every week, we are focused on creating a safer, more affordable city for you. From keeping families safe on our streets to helping put money back in your pockets, here’s how we delivered for you this week: |

Helping you save money – Our administration has already helped put over $30 billion back into the pockets of New Yorkers by connecting people to city, state, and federal programs, and we’re just getting started! This week, we launched a new “Money in Your Pocket” online guide to help you easily check your eligibility and apply for 40+ free services, such as reduced subway fares and free tax prep. We’ll also be visiting over 20 underserved neighborhoods and NYCHA buildings to talk with New Yorkers directly about these programs and help them save money at their door.
Shutting down 1,000+ illegal smoke shops – Since launching “Operation Padlock to Protect” this May, we have already inspected 100% of shops identified as selling illegal cannabis, closed more than 1,000 illicit operations, and seized more than $63 million in illegal product. Illegal cannabis shops endanger our young people and erode our quality of life, while also undermining our legal cannabis industry. What happened to the *four tons* of seized product? We destroyed it: watch here.

Making high-quality child care affordable – We announced a historic $100 million plan with the City Council to expand access to affordable child care, invest in our early childhood education system, increase 3-K and special education seats, and so much more. Expanding access to child care will grow our economy, help more women enter the workforce, and ensure that families have affordable, safe, and nurturing places to leave their kids.
