TEN EHC CLINICAL SERVICES > ORTHOPAEDICS Orthopaedics/Minimally-Invasive Hip Fracture Surgery In January, 2000 our Orthopaedic surgeons began using a new technique for hip surgery utilizing the Gotfried Percutaneous Compression Plating (PC.C.P.) system. Fixation of the device is accomplished through two small percutaneous incisions with minimal disruption of bone, muscle and soft tissue. Fifty-five cases have been performed at Elmhurst to date. Because this procedure is minimally invasive, there is a 25%-50% reduction in OR time. Additionally, there is minimal blood loss for the patient, facilitating a quicker recovery and rehabilitation.
