Psychiatry/Partial Hospitalization Program

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) provides intensive psychiatric stabilization and psychological rehabilitation to patients with chronic mental illness who are recuperating from an acute decompensation of illness or for whom the program may help avert a decompensation. The program operates for a full day, five days a week, and has a capacity census of 30 patients. Most patients attend daily, although other schedules can be tailor-made according to the needs of the patient. Patients with a dual diagnosis are accepted as well. Bilingual programming is conducted (English and Spanish). The usual course of treatment is six weeks.

The PHP is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, social workers and activity therapists. Numerous therapeutic modalities are utilized, including medication, individual, group, family therapy, and psycho education.
