INFORMATION / CATEGORIES
Existing
Elmhurst Hospital Center patients:
To assist in the diagnosis of breast cancer, it is important that women
speak with their doctors and have regular mammograms. Women over the age
of 40 years should have a screening mammogram performed each year. If
you are an Elmhurst Hospital Center patient, your doctor can order a mammogram
for you at your next visit. The hospital will help you remember when it
is time for your next mammogram procedure.
Once
you obtain an order for a mammogram, you may go directly to the Radiology
Department's Scheduling Desk, located in room E1-45 on the first floor
of the hospital's main building, Monday through Friday between the hours
of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment.
If
you prefer, you may call the Radiology Department's Scheduling Desk at
(718) 334-2085 to schedule an appointment for your mammogram.
Patients
with private doctor outside of Elmhurst Hospital:
If you are not an Elmhurst Hospital patient, but your private doctor has
ordered a mammogram for you, you may contact our Community Health Network
at (718) 334-5851. CHN staff will assist you in scheduling your mammogram
at Elmhurst Hospital and will ensure that the results are sent back to
your private doctor.
Patients
who do not have a doctor:
Women who do not have a regular physician may come to our Diagnostic Clinic
located in B1-14 (call for appointment availability at (718) 334-2715
or come in Monday through Friday during the day). One of the Elmhurst
Hospital doctors will see you and order a mammogram for you. Once you
have an order you may follow the instructions for existing Elmhurst Hospital
patients.
Patients
without medical insurance:
Even if you do not have medical insurance to pay for a mammogram, one
can be provided for you. Contact the Healthy Women's Partnership office
at Elmhurst Hospital at (718) 334-3150 to find out how you can qualify
for a free mammogram, pap screening and examination.
