NEW YORK--Mayor de Blasio today announced Aja Worthy-Davis as Deputy Press Secretary. Worthy-Davis will be collaborating on messaging and response for the City’s housing, health and human services agencies.
“Aja Worthy-Davis is well-prepared to continue to communicate what the City’s housing, health and human services agencies are doing to improve the lives of New Yorkers,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Coming directly from NYCHA and Public Advocate Letitia James’ office, I’m confident Worthy-Davis will excel in her new position, and I look forward to working with her.”
Aja Worthy-Davis has 10 years of government experience. In her most recent position, she served as Deputy Press Secretary for the New York City Housing Authority, where she was essential in raising public awareness about NYCHA’s transformation under the de Blasio administration. Prior to her work with NYCHA, Worthy-Davis was the Chief Spokesperson and later Deputy Director of External Affairs for the Office of New York City Public Advocate Letitia James. From 2007 to 2013, Worthy-Davis served as a Policy and Communications Director within the New York City Council. She began her career working on progressive Congressional campaigns, and first ventured into communications as a Press Intern with then-Senator Hillary Clinton. Worthy-Davis holds a B.A. in Political Science and English from Pace University.pressoffice@cityhall.nyc.gov
